There is still enormous potential to be explored in Brazil, where around 2% of homes have photovoltaic systems

A few years ago, purchasing a residential photovoltaic generation system was a benefit that few could enjoy, because the costs for installing these kits were very high and, therefore, it was affordable for few. Over time, the possibility of installing these panels to generate solar energy became more accessible and, currently, there is even the option of obtaining new solar energy generation – the storage of this energy source.
Brazil recently reached the mark of 2 million homes with rooftop solar energy generation, according to data from Absolar (Brazilian Solar Energy Association), which proves the expansion of this photovoltaic source, but there is still a huge possibility for this market, since these installations are present in an average of 2% of homes in Brazil.
Today, the factors that motivate the installation of a solar kit go beyond saving on your energy bill. The increasingly frequent blackouts are causing enormous losses in several Brazilian regions due to the interruption in energy supply. In this sense, the traditional solar energy system alone would not solve the problem, as it is connected to the concessionaire's network. This is why the new generation of photovoltaic energy, which is beginning to arrive in Brazil, tends to conquer this space – the storage of solar energy with the use of hybrid inverters.
The world already knows and, what's more, this system is already quite advanced in countries like the USA and Europe, where most homes that install new photovoltaic systems already have a storage system. According to a joint survey by the Solar Energy Industry Association (Seia) and consultancy Wood Mackenzie, in 2023, energy storage in the USA accounted for 13% of residential installations and 5% of others. And, by 2024, the expectation is that 25% of residential systems will have batteries.
Brazil is beginning to follow the path of many countries that have already realized the benefits of self-production of clean energy and energy independence, conditions that are possible with solar storage. Among the factors that have generated this optimism and contributed to making this market even more attractive is the reduction in the costs of photovoltaic kits, which, in 2023, suffered a reduction of around 40%, according to mapping carried out by Portal Solar. This scenario, also according to Portal Solar, contributed to the reduction of the payback, that is, the time for return on investment, between 10% and 20%.
To give an example, according to Greener, in January 2023 it would take the consumer 4,4 years to pay off the investment; In 2024, this time was reduced to 3,3 years. “Today, the storage system has the same value as the traditional system three years ago. In addition to the reduced value, there is currently the possibility of storage in batteries, which adds even more value, as the consumer has their energy security guaranteed”, emphasizes Gilberto Camargos, executive director of SolaX Power in Brazil. This is because, even in the event of a blackout, the supply is not interrupted, considering that the stored energy is used.

It is important to highlight that with this equipment, it is possible to store energy even in apartments. “The residential sector (houses) represents the majority of consumers of this type of photovoltaic system, but this equipment also provides energy security to apartments, which can store solar energy even without the panels, or even to small businesses, large industries, as well as to rural properties, since in all these spheres being without energy supply for long periods causes a lot of damage”, explains Gilberto.
About SolaX Power – It is a multinational founded in 2012 with headquarters in Hangzhou, China, and branches in several countries, including the Netherlands, Germany, United Kingdom, Australia, Japan and the USA. With more than 2.000 employees around the world, the company is recognized for its activities in the areas of research and development: there are more than 100 international patents and more than 500 market certifications. Its portfolio consists of photovoltaic inverters, energy storage solutions, vehicle chargers and advanced energy management systems. Its inverters are known for their efficiency, reliability, adaptability and intelligent control. SolaX Power is committed to sustainability, innovation and customer satisfaction. Its expansion across the world aims to contribute to the global transition to a greener future.
