Terpor works will unlock the job market in Macaé
On hold since 2020, the works at Terpor promise to generate around 17 new jobs over a period of three years. The port of Macaé will have two port terminals and a unit that processes natural gas, mentioned above. In 2019, the project received a preliminary environmental license, which approved the location and design of the port terminal.
The next step would be just the construction license for the beginning of the works. The scheduled date for Terpor to begin its operations was in 2022. However, as construction only started this year and, following this logic, the dates should change to the end of 2023 or 2024.
Terpor will have 6 million square meters
Occupying a land area of 6.000.000 m2, the port will have storage yards and also bonded warehouses. Terminal A consists of a liquid terminal and offshore support, and will be connected to land by means of a bridge of approximately 4 km, with a depth of 16,5 meters.
Terminal B, on the other hand, will be used for the handling of oil and has two berths, with a depth of about 27 meters, to receive VLCC vessels. In addition, the terminal will have the capacity to handle up to 2 million barrels per day.
