Microsoft job openings are for several areas of activity and are offered after a millionaire purchase for a cable factory

Last Friday, the 9th, Microsoft announced the purchase of Lumenisity, a British startup factory that develops hollow fiber cables (HCF) mainly for data centers and ISPs, according to the CanalTech website, and is still offering several job openings in Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo and Fortaleza.

According to Microsoft, the purchase of the new factory, the details of which were not disclosed, "will expand [its] ability to further optimize its global infrastructure" and "will serve Microsoft's cloud platform and serve customers with stringent latency and security ”.

HCF cables basically combine optical fiber and coaxial cable. They've been around since the 1990s, but what Lumenisity has is a unique design with an air-filled central channel surrounded by a ring of glass tubes. The idea is that light can travel faster through air than through glass.

The technology present in the new cable factory

In a test run with Comcast in April, a Lumenisity HCF-only wire was reportedly capable of delivering traffic rates ranging from 10 Gbps to 400 Gbps.

“HCF can deliver benefits across a wide range of sectors, including healthcare, financial services, manufacturing, retail and government,” wrote Girish Bablani, CVP of the Microsoft's Azure Core business, in a blog post.

“For the public sector, HCF can provide enhanced security and intrusion detection for federal and local governments around the world. In healthcare, because HCF can accommodate the size and volume of large datasets, help accelerate medical image retrieval by facilitating providers' ability to ingest, persist, and share medical image data in the cloud. And with the rise of the digital economy, HCF can help international financial institutions looking for fast, secure transactions across a wide geographic region.”
