China has just developed and installed the world's largest wind turbine. The equipment will be used to produce offshore wind energy, generating 13,6 MW.
Coinciding with the realization of the 20th Congress of the Chinese Communist Party, which opened last Saturday in Beijing, China put into operation its latest technology in the power generation sector on Sunday offshore wind energy: a wind turbine with a power of 13,6 MW, which is the most powerful in the Asia Pacific region.
Wind turbine guarantees the generation of enough offshore wind power to supply 30 homes
The diameter of the propeller of the wind turbine installed in China is 252 meters, the largest in the world. The new equipment can generate up to 63,5 million Kw/hour per year, guaranteeing the supply of 30 thousand houses of three people each.
China's new offshore wind turbine has the largest single-unit capacity in the Asia-Pacific region and the largest propeller diameter in the world. The use of the turbine would drive the industrial modernization of the country's offshore sector and would also drive the transformation of its energy structure.
It is important to remember that China installed another large offshore wind turbine in June as part of a project to advance technology. According to information, the construction of the turbine was made with a focus on challenging conditions on the high seas, being able to withstand a typhoon that happens every 100 years.
Named Fuyao, China's giant platform was flown from Maoming, in southern China, at a location 11 kilometers off the coast of the South China Sea. This location was chosen for the installation of the wind turbine due to the water depth, which can vary between 52 m and 68 m, and also because of its complex seabed.
Siemens Gamesa puts into operation its first giant turbine with recyclable blades
The first recyclable wind blades of the company are running on a turbine at the offshore wind farm in the city of Kaskasi, Germany. This is the first commercial installation and operation of wind turbine technology with recyclable wind blades.
The company's highly technological set was named RecyclableBlade and was installed in the turbines of the German plant, being produced from various materials embedded in resin. According to information from Siemens, the separation of resin, fiberglass, wood, among other materials, was carried out using a mild acid solution.
Siemens also points out that the materials can then enter the circular economy, leading to the development of new products, such as suitcases or flat screen casings, without the need to resort to other or more raw resources.
Offshore wind energy market welcomes new technologies
A world wide wind, a company based in Norway, has developed a new design for a vertical-axis floating wind turbine. The project has the potential to completely transform the way offshore wind energy is used.
The company's new concept promises to generate twice as much power as the largest traditional turbines currently available on the market. Using two sets of blades that tilt and rotate in the opposite direction, the company claims its large wind turbine has the potential to reach heights of up to 400 meters.
The technology manages to unleash unparalleled power and density, which can result in a considerable reduction in the cost of offshore wind energy.
