Porto de Itaguaí RJ competition is open for registration for 100 job vacancies. The competition focused on elementary school candidates aims to fill vacancies for the position of stevedore.
The most recent initiative of the Port Labor Management Body (OGMO RJ), located in the Port of Itaguaí, Rio de Janeiro, has just come to life with the official publication of its notice with around 100 vacancies in the competition. This job opportunity stands out by offering a total of 100 vacancies for primary school candidates, a strategic position as a casual port worker, a vital role for daily operations and logistical efficiency at the port.

Requirements required to participate in the elementary school competition
The private public competition is being organized by Development and Training Institute (IDCAP) and brings its own legal contracting regime for casual port workers, which will be governed by the Collective Labor Convention (CCT) 2023/2025.
According to the notice, the competition for the Port of Itaguaí-RJ will be divided into seven stages. The objective tests are scheduled for January 7, 2024. The Porto de Itaguaí RJ competition notice offers 100 immediate vacancies plus training for reserve registration, in the position of casual port worker – stevedoring category. The position requires completing primary education. The working hours will be 6 hours per day.
A casual worker is someone who provides services to a company on an occasional basis and who, despite not having an employment contract, has the same rights as workers with a contract. The intermediation of the service is carried out by the category union or by OGMO. A stevedore is a port professional dedicated to loading and unloading ships at the docks.

Registration for the Porto de Itaguaí RJ competition must be made through the IDCAP website, between November 1st and December 10th.
The registration fee, worth R$145, can be paid until December 11th. Candidates registered with CadÚnico can request exemption on November 1st and 2nd. According to the notice, candidates for the public competition will be evaluated through the following stages:
- Psychological assessment test;
- Physical Assessment Test (TAF);
- Medical exam;
- Securities evaluation;
- Presentation of documents and proof of requirements;
- Professional training course;
- Objective proof.
The objective tests will be carried out in the municipalities of Rio de Janeiro and Itaguaí, on January 7, 2024. This will consist of 60 questions, which will be distributed among the subjects of Portuguese Language, Mathematics, IT, Port Legislation and Specific Knowledge.
What will the remaining stages of the public tender be like?
Candidates approved in the elementary education competition and best placed in the objective tests will be invited to evaluate their qualifications. This step will score:
- Category “A” license;
- Category “B” license;
- Qualification in category “C”;
- Qualification in category “D”;
- License in category “E”.
After the qualifications evaluation, successful candidates will be called to the TAF, which will consist of the following exercises:
- upper limb flexion and extension test;
- 12-minute running test;
- handgrip test;
- Wells bench test.
With the completion of the TAF, approved candidates for the Porto de Itaguaí-RJ competition will proceed to the psychological assessment stage, which will consist of the application and evaluation of psychological techniques, with a focus on analyzing and adapting the candidate to the professional profile of the activity.
After the psychological assessment, successful candidates will be invited to present documents and undergo a medical examination. If approved, candidates will be enrolled in the training course. The public tender will be valid for two years.
