Even with the Covid-19 pandemic, public ports broke a record and grew 5,68%, according to the Ministry of Infrastructure

Data released on the 29th (Friday), the Ministry of Infrastructure showed that compared to the same period in 2019, the volume of cargo handled in Brazilian public ports in 2020 increased by 5,68%. Last year, 447,1 million tons of cargo were handled, compared to 423 million tons in 2019.

Fruit of the professional management of our ports, the competence of our operators and the commitment of the professionals who make up this important sector of logistics”.

Port of Santos:

The Port of Santos is the largest port complex in the southern hemisphere and its cargo handling volume increased, reaching 2020% at the end of 9,3 compared to 2019. During this period, the cargo handling volume was 146,5 million tons.

In addition to the record for total shipments, the first 11 months of 2020 also reached historic records for some shipments in that period. The volume of solid bulk was 70,5 million tons, an increase of 14,9% over the same period of the previous year, while the volume of liquid bulk also increased 10,7%, reaching 17,2 million tons.

Companhia Docas do Rio de Janeiro:

The cargo volume of Companhia Docas do Rio de Janeiro (CDRJ) increased by 8,6%, from 50,4 million tons to 54,7 million tons. Revenues from the ports of Itaguaí, Rio de Janeiro, Niterói and Angra dos Reis increased by 21%, to a total of 630 million reais, the biggest increase in the last decade.
