Companies ABB E-mobility and Shell have unveiled plans to launch a new addition to the electric car universe: the world's first national network of the world's fastest charger.

With more than 200 Terra 360 ABB chargers to be launched in Germany over the next year, ABB E-mobility and Shell will help ensure greater availability and charging speed for more than 1,7 million electric car drivers in the European country.

“At Shell, our aim is to be the leader in electric vehicle charging, offering our customers charging when and where it's convenient for them. For drivers on the move, particularly those on long journeys, charging speed is crucial and every minute of waiting can make a big difference to their journey,” said István Kapitány, Executive Vice President Global, Shell Mobility. For this reason, he also pointed out, through the partnership with ABB, Shell customers will be offered the fastest charging available in Germany and soon in other countries.

Terra 360 is available in a variety of configurations, which can charge many vehicles at once. Modular design ensures maximum use of the charging station with dynamic power distribution. The new charger also has a maximum output of 360kW, being able to fully charge a car in 15 minutes or less.

ABB E-mobility CEO Frank Muehlon commented that as a global leader in mobile charging infrastructure, electric vehicles, “we believe in the power of unity”. He highlighted that collaboration and innovation, walking together, can be fundamental to curb the impact of climate change, enabling a low-carbon society.

With transportation accounting for an estimated 29% of greenhouse gases, Muehlon believes that working collaboratively to drive change has never been more critical than it is now.

Recently, ABB E-mobility signed a global framework agreement with Shell to provide ABB's complete portfolio of AC and DC charging stations. The portfolio contains not only the Wallbox AC for domestic operations, both work and retail installations, but also the Terra 360, ideal for fleet applications, fueling stations, general and private parking lots, and urban charging stations.

By setting the standard in data security and transparency, ABB has become one of the first major charging providers to achieve compliance for its electric car chargers – the Terra 53/54 and High Power DC – which are operated in Germany. called "Eichrecht".
