The company Acelen, owner of the only large Petrobras refinery sold, criticized the state-owned company regarding the national fuel market and the transfer of oil, stating that it pays too much in product prices.

During last Monday, (15/08), the company Acelen commented on the main problems faced in the Brazilian fuel market and in the transfer of products from its refinery, the Mataripe Refinery, in Bahia, acquired by the company Petrobras in the of divestment by the state-owned company. In addition, the company stated that it pays more in oil prices and criticized the Brazilian state company, which is jeopardizing the transfer of fuels with the high amounts charged.

Owner of the Mataripe Refinery criticizes Petrobras and says it is paying more in oil prices in the Brazilian market than abroad

The company Acelen owns the only refinery largely granted to the private market by Petrobras in its plan to divest national assets, and is experiencing problems in the field of fuel sales in Brazil.

This is because the owner of the Mataripe Refinery, an important asset in the state of Bahia, claimed to be paying more in oil prices, thus influencing the entire chain of commercialization of products to the final consumer.

“I have difficulties because of the tax structure, how it is built and the benefits of exporting oil. I am the second largest refinery in Brazil and I cannot buy oil at the price that is exported from Rio or the Campos Basin. Strictly speaking, I pay more at the source than a European or Asian refinery, which is receiving oil. ”, highlighted Luiz de Mendonça, president of Acelen.

He concluded by stating: “There is a tax burden, an advantage for exporting and, sometimes, you export through a trading company and pay less tax. Petrobras manages to circumvent this by making transfer prices between refineries. I am not".

Currently, the prices of oil transferred from Petrobras to Acelen are under analysis by Cade (Administrative Council for Economic Defense), as there is a suspicion of competition infringement on the part of the refinery.

However, the body's action ended up reversing its initial role and the council is now analyzing the position of the state-owned company Petrobras in the Brazilian fuel market, as the state-owned company may be overcharging the company's commodity prices. .

Acelen reduced gasoline and diesel prices charged in the state of Bahia during the last week

Amidst the controversies in the fuel market involving oil prices paid to Petrobras, Acelen continues to try to stabilize the prices of products distributed in the state of Bahia. And last Friday, it announced a 4% reduction in the price of gasoline and a 4,3% drop in the price of a liter of diesel passed on in the state of Bahia. Values below those charged by Petrobras, thus seeking greater competitiveness in the domestic market.

However, the company has not been able to maintain this reduction constantly in the state. And at other times, it even charged an amount even higher than Petrobras prices to the final consumer in Bahia, thus influencing the instability of the fuel market and the transport sector.
