The state of Bahia will start to receive natural gas from TAG through the transport services that will be offered by the company to Bahiagás after the signature of the first private contracts for business between carrier and distributor

Transportadora Associada de Gás (TAG) and Bahiagás signed, last Friday (13/05), the first private contracts between a carrier and a distributor for natural gas transport services. So the supply of gas in the state of Bahia will be carried out by TAG after the signing of the agreement and will be essential for the expansion of private services in the sector, that is, without the involvement of Petrobras within the signed deals.

First private contracts for natural gas transport services are signed between Bahiagás and Tag to supply reserves in the state of Bahia

Bahiagás announced the signing of contracts with TAG this past week and, with that, took another step towards the expansion of the oil and gas sector in the state. Furthermore, these were the first contracts for natural gas transport services signed privately, that is, without Petrobras' involvement, with only the participation of a carrier and a distributor that operate in the private sector. 

TAG stated that the agreements signed with Bahiagás aim to transport natural gas to supply the state of Bahia in terms of fuel, essential for the entire production and commercial chain. In addition, the companies disclosed that the contracts have a total output volume of 1,3 million m³/day, effective from May 9 to December 31, for the arrival of natural gas from Galp and PetroRecôncavo to the Bahia market. Thus, the state will be supplied through TAG's services for the transport of natural gas. 

And, with the finalization of the contracts with Bahiagás for natural gas transport services in the state, TAG moves forward to expand its portfolio in the year 2022. The company has now signed 32 contracts that, together, take 20% of the capacity company's transport network. In this way, the agreements with Bahiagás were essential for the year 2022 to start with new growth projections in business during the rest of the months. 

Companies celebrate agreements for natural gas transport services and comment on growth prospects for the year 2022

The contracts signed between TAG and Bahiagás made room for much more attractive future prospects for the year 2022. This happens because Bahiagás had already entered into a growing expansion in recent months and signed a contract with Shell, Galp and Equinor , winners of public call. Now, with the start of the first contracts for private natural gas transport services, the company is able to further diversify its portfolio.

In addition, TAG's commercial and regulatory director, Ovidio Quintana, commented on the importance of the agreements between the company and Bahiagás for the year 2022 and stated that the “agreement signed with Bahiagás is in line with the best use of the contracting model of transport by entrance and exit, guaranteeing the optimization of the distributor's portfolio and greater liquidity for the contracting of the gas molecule in favor of its customers".

Finally, Bahiagás stated that, with the agreements signed with TAG, more than 70% of the energy purchased by the company in 2022 will be delivered by new suppliers, with around 26% coming from the onshore branch of Bahia, which expanding more and more in recent years.
