The MV CSSC Amsterdam carried more than 82 thousand tons of cereal, departing from the Port of Santarém, in Pará, towards Europe
São Paulo, December 2, 2020 – Bureau Veritas, world leader in Testing, Inspection and Certification (TIC), carried out yet another record inspection on vessels in the country. This time, the Group was responsible for inspecting 82.531.299 thousand tons of corn shipped on the largest ship ever berthed in the history of Arco Norte, the MV CSSC Amsterdam. Leaving from the Port of Santarém, located in Pará, his first trip is to Lisbon, in Europe. Bureau Veritas evaluated different criteria, such as the weight and quality of the goods, in addition to the ship's sanitary condition.

“Only in 2020, this is the second record inspection that we carry out in Brazil, reflecting the good moment of the national Agribusiness. In the middle of the year, we verified more than 102 thousand tons of soy in the Port of Paranaguá. There are almost 200 years of experience in the sector and inspecting the MV CSSC Amsterdam came to add to these long years of trajectory”, highlights Claudio Fonseca, Director of Operations of the Agri & Food Division.
The MV CSSC Amsterdam is 255 meters long, 43 meters wide and has seven holds. Carrying more than 82 tons of corn, about 62% more than the average for the Port of Santarém, the cargo represents the largest volume ever shipped from Arco Norte in the country. To get an idea of what this represents, if this load were transported by trucks, more than 1 vehicles would be needed.
