CB Bioenergia closed a new agreement with the government of RS for the construction of an ethanol plant with a capacity to produce 10 million liters per year.

This Tuesday (23), the government of the state of RS signed a protocol of intentions with CB Bioenergia for the construction of an ethanol plant in the municipality of Santiago (RS), which will have the capacity to produce 10 million liters per year . The document establishes articulated actions so that R$ 35 million are invested through incentive programs. The signing took place at a ceremony held at the Piratini Palace, with the presence of Governor Ranolfo Vieira Júnior.

Government of RS is engaged in policies to encourage the production of clean energy

Through the Secretariat for Economic Development, the state assumed the commitment to make the processing of the project of the CB Bioenergy viable in the Rio Grande do Sul State Operation Company Fund (Fundopem/RS) and in the Rio Grande do Sul Industrial Development Harmonization Program (Integrar/RS).

In return for the State, and within the scope of Fundopem, the protocol establishes actions by the Treasury Department such as acceptance of payment of ICMS on account of the purchase of machinery and equipment from suppliers located in RS, as well as accessories, tools and spare parts that accompany these goods and that are produced in RS.

According to Governor Ranolfo Vieira Júnior, the state is increasingly focused on policies to introduce the production of renewable energy and that the new investment in the ethanol plant will also impact the local economy. According to the governor, CB Bioenergia's investment will represent more economic and social development for the region where it will be established and for RS as a whole. The ethanol plant and the movement caused by it in the production chain mean the generation of new jobs and income.

RS depends on ethanol production from other locations

Ranolfo also states that clean energy is an important issue, being a global agenda inserted in the direction of the sustainable development desired for the state. According to the governor, RS currently depends on the production of ethanol in other states and the signing with CB Bioenergia will be yet another initiative that will expand operations so that this scenario changes.

The ethanol plant it is within the context of the State Policy to Promote the Production of this biofuel, established by law, from which the State Program for the Development of the Ethanol Production Chain was developed, with which the CB Bioenergia enterprise will also receive benefits. The program aims to encourage the production chain and expand ethanol generation, especially taking advantage of winter crops as inputs.

RS should end the decade producing half of the demand for ethanol for domestic consumption

Currently, the state produces 1% of its internal demand for ethanol. According to Joel Maraschin, Secretary of Economic Development, with the actions taken, the State has the potential to reach self-sufficiency.

RS should close this decade producing up to 50% of demand for domestic consumption. Energy is progress and the biofuel sector is gaining more and more space and boosts the economy. The document signed with CB Bioenergia corresponds to an investment of R$ 35 million promoted through Fundopem for the development of the ethanol plant.

With the structure of equipment and storage for agricultural production, the company's investment reaches R$ 75 million. Unlike most factories in Brazil, it will not work with sugarcane, but with wheat, corn and triticale.
