The Leader in Hydropower Production Statkraft Celebrated the Investment Contract with Renewable Energy Giant EDP, Strengthening Its Presence in Brazil’s Wind Energy Market
Statkraft Renewables, an internationally recognized leader in hydropower production and the largest renewable energy generator in Europe, has finalized a purchase and sale agreement with EDP Renewables to acquire two wind farms, Jerusalem and Boqueirão, located in the state of Rio Grande do Norte. The transaction involved investments of 1.57 billion reais and strengthens Statkraft’s position in the wind energy sector in Brazil and worldwide, according to the website Petronotícias.
Strengthening Its Presence in the Wind Energy Sector
With the acquisition of the Jerusalem and Boqueirão wind farms, Statkraft further strengthens its presence in the Brazilian energy landscape. Together, these two projects feature 62 turbines and have a total installed capacity of 260MW. The company, which already controls 19 renewable generation assets in Brazil, will now exceed 1.3 GW of installed capacity with projects in operation and under construction, consolidating its position as an international leader in renewable energy supply.
Fernando De Lapuerta, CEO and President of Statkraft in Brazil, highlights the importance of the country for the group’s growth plans: “Brazil is an important country for the growth of the Statkraft Group, combining mergers, acquisitions, and greenfield development of renewable technologies. This transaction is another significant step to continue with our investment plan.”
