Espírito Santo projects a significant increase in natural gas production, reaching annual growth of 5,2%.

Espírito Santo's oil and natural gas industry is facing a promising rise, with expectations of increasing its natural gas production by 5,2% per year, rising from the current 4,2 million cubic meters per day to 5,5 .2028 million by XNUMX. These projections are part of the seventh edition of the Yearbook of the Oil and Natural Gas Industry in ES, recently released at Palácio Anchieta, in Vitória.

The report, prepared by the Industry Observatory of the Federation of Industries of Espírito Santo (Findes), not only details the current state and prospects of the sector at the state and national level, but also maps future investments and the expansion of production of natural gas and oil by 2028.

The vital role of natural gas in the local economy

During the opening of the event, Cris Samorini, president of Findes, emphasized the significant impact of natural gas for the economic development of Espírito Santo. The production of natural gas, especially onshore, showed impressive growth, more than doubling its capacity. The entry of new companies, including SMEs, into the state's oil and gas market has strengthened onshore production, expanding opportunities for the local supply chain and improving job and income generation.

Samorini highlighted that the investment announced by the sector jumped from almost R$9 billion to around R$37 billion by 2028, reflecting the strategic role that Espírito Santo plays for companies that plan and execute projects in the region. This substantial increase in investments indicates robust future development for the 12 projects mapped in the state, involving major players such as BW Energy, Petrobras, Prio and Seacrest Petróleo.

Regulation and future of the piped gas market

Another crucial topic addressed at the launch of the yearbook was the regulation of the State Law on the Free Piped Gas Market, approved at the end of 2020. The president of Findes expressed the importance of this regulation to make the natural gas more accessible and competitive for local industries, and how this is fundamental to creating a more favorable business environment.

The State Governor, Renato Casagrande, also reiterated the government's commitment to providing an enabling environment for business investment, taking advantage of modern legislation on the natural gas to promote investments in biomethane and other initiatives that use petroleum resources to support the energy transition. The governor emphasized the importance of maximizing these natural resources to benefit environmental projects and funds intended for civil defense and sustainable development.

The discussion about the future of natural gas in Espírito Santo, therefore, not only highlights its growing role as a sustainable energy alternative, but also as a vector of vital economic and industrial development for the region.
