What if a single electric car could transform into a pickup truck, a cargo van and a motorhome? It was with this in mind that Electric Brands developed the Xbus, a vehicle with incredible torque that will hit the market next year.

The German company, Electric Brands, will bring its new launch in 2022, the XBus, an electric car that stands out for its modular body options. The vehicle is an electric micro van project that unites versatility in a small space and a propulsion that does not excite with power but that brings a very high torque. The vehicle can transform into a pickup truck, a cargo van and even a motorhome.

According to the company, the Xbus follows the Lego principle, allowing consumers to vary the bodywork configurations without having to use special tools and as many times as they want, allowing to use the same Xbus as a pickup truck, motorhome or cargo van or passengers.

When equipped with a motorhome, the Xbus has a bed for two adults, a fridge, a kitchen with a sink, and an induction cooker. Consumers will also be able to choose to equip the electric car with an off-road package, which comprises a wider track and a raised suspension.

Introduction of Xbus

The vehicle, which can be transformed into a pickup truck, van or motorhome, is 3,64 m long, 1,60 m wide, 1,94 m high and will operate in different segments of the European market due to the capabilities that were previously presented. . As is the case with the Renault Twizy, for example, the Xbus will act as a quadricycle, being able to carry a load of 450 to 600 kg.

Its total weight is less than 600 kg, helping to fit it into this category. In a cargo vehicle category of up to 1.000 kg, the vehicle capable of transforming into a pickup truck or van will be able to circulate at the standard speed of other cars, using four electric motors, installed in the wheel hubs to make this possible.

A torque to envy large trucks

The electric car has only 20 horsepower, reaching 75 hp as peak power, but what differentiates the model that can be transformed into a van or motorhome is its torque, which exceeds 101,6 kgfm and is the envy of big pickups.

To get an idea, the RAM 2500 Laramie has 110,7 kgfm. The Xbus is also equipped with a 10 kWh battery, which provides the vehicle with a range of 200 km, however the responsible company claims that there will be a version with 30 kWh and 600 km of range.

To stand out in regions with little or no paving, the vehicle has all-terrain tires and all-wheel drive. The vehicle's interior is highlighted with a steering wheel with horn gear buttons and a small display serving as a cluster.
