Honda innovates with the launch of a new electric motorcycle, which includes a battery rental option and subscription

Honda's new electric motorcycle launched in Europe is the first to use the automaker's new system, called the Honda Mobile Power Pack and:

Honda Motor Europe has officially unveiled the Honda EM1 e:2023 electric motorcycle, its first two-wheel electric vehicle for the European market. The letters EM, which are part of the model name, stand for “Electric Moped”. In addition, the EM1 e:2023 is the first electric two-wheel motorcycle from Honda to use the new Honda Mobile Power Pack e: (HMPP) system interchangeable in the European market, according to the Insideevs website.

The EM1 e:2023 electric motorcycle launched in Europe is equipped with a hub-mounted 1,7 kW (2,3 hp) 90 Nm electric motor, providing efficient performance. The approved autonomy of the electric motorcycle is 41,3 km, but with the Eco mode activated, this distance can be extended to 48 km. The maximum speed reached by the EM1 e:2023 electric motorcycle is 45 km/h. It is important to point out that the electric vehicle launched in Europe is homologated as an electric motorcycle, explaining these modest numbers. However, Honda focuses its efforts on developing interchangeable batteries for use in various branded products.

In addition to innovation in terms of electric mobility, Honda Motor Europe is also taking a different approach by offering the EM1 e:2023 motorcycle in countries across Europe. Instead of offering only direct sales, the company plans to provide leasing, rental and/or subscription schemes, according to market needs. When renting, leasing or signing an EM1 e:, the rider will also receive the HMPP e: and a charger, allowing the battery to be kept charged at home, school or work.

New electric motorcycle launched in Europe can be charged more than 2.500 times

Honda estimates that the electric motorcycle launched in Europe can be charged more than 2.500 times, according to internal tests carried out. It is currently unclear whether Honda Motor Europe has future plans to offer Powerpack Exchanger stations for changing HMPP batteries on the go.

As far as design and equipment are concerned, the Europe EM1 e:2023 electric motorcycle features a 31mm telescopic front fork suspension and a dual twin-tube shock absorber at the rear, with no adjustment option. The brake system comprises a 190mm disc and single piston caliper at the front along with a 110mm drum brake at the rear, all connected by a Combined Braking System (CBS).

The bike in Europe has a seat height of 740 mm and a total weight of 95 kg, including the 10,3 kg of the HMPP and:. Other features include LED lighting around the contour, a USB socket, 3,3 liters of storage space under the seat, a hook for bags and grab bars for the passenger.
