In Bahia, the ENSEADA shipyard signs a contract and starts operating a Multipurpose pier

The ENSEADA shipyard in Bahia announced yesterday, the 10th, the acquisition of a new contract and starts operating another Multipurpose pier

The contract signed by the Enseada shipyard in Bahia was with the company SeaSeep – Oil&Gas Data Acquisition and marks the beginning of operations at Multipurpose Pier No. 4.  Explosion of onshore jobs in sight! Petrobras sells 34 oil fields in Rio Grande do Norte to PetroRecôncavo for US$266 million.

Multipurpose Pier No. 4 is designed for ship repair work, layup and port operations.

Multipurpose Pier No. 4 is 270m long, 35m wide, 13m draft and 60ton/m² resistant, in addition to having a 70ton JIB Crane for cargo handling.

In October, the shipyard filed for bankruptcy

The shipyard Enseada Indústria naval (EIN), located in the municipality of Maragogipe, in Bahia, filed for judicial recovery due to debts of around R$ 2,3 billion.

The company that has been sparing no efforts to overcome its business and financial challenges since the end of 2014 and has been in extrajudicial recovery since 2017.

The plan was requested, assuming that orders were placed during this period and would keep the shipyard honoring its commitments, but this fact did not materialize.

It is worth remembering that the Enseada shipyard participated in the Brazilian Navy's tender for the construction of four Corvettes, which was won by the Águas Azuis consortium, which will build the Oceana de Itajaí shipyard.

Upon entering into judicial recovery, the Bahia shipyard hopes to be able to restructure its liabilities, “The measure will enable the implementation of a definitive financial restructuring, in a coordinated, safe and transparent manner, allowing the continuity of its operational activities and its social function of secure and generate jobs. The company continues with its activities normally”, says the statement.

The Enseada was the biggest private investment in Bahia in the last 15 years and its construction, although not finished, demanded around R$ 3 billion.

O shipyard which at the height of its construction employed more than nine thousand workers was immensely affected by the cancellation
of the contracts of six rigs contracted by Sete Brasil.
