Investments in the Assuruá 4 wind farm confirm Eurofarma's quest to implement renewable energies in its operations. The contract with Omega Energia provides for the supply of wind energy for internal supply.
Brazilian giant Eurofarma is looking for more sustainability process and environmental commitment in its operations over the coming years. The company has a partnership with the company Omega Energia for participation in the Assuruá 4 wind farm, located in the state of Bahia. The agreement with the energy company provides for the supply of 100% of the pharmaceutical company's operations with wind energy over the next few years.
Assuruá 4 wind farm will be responsible for supplying Eurofarma's wind energy after a partnership with the energy company Omega Energia
Omega Energia is increasingly expanding its renewable energy projects and bringing more sustainability to the national industrial sector in 2022.
Eurofarma has just signed a partnership with the energy company for a stake in the Assuruá 4 wind farm, located in the state of Bahia.
The partnership takes effect from 2024, and may be anticipated, ensuring that 100% of Eurofarma's energy consumption is supplied with renewable energy and the decarbonization of 260 thousand tons of carbon dioxide (CO2) in the atmosphere by the year 2038 .
Although it is in its early stages, the partnership with Omega Energia could bring great results in terms of the growth of the energy market and the reduction of energy costs for the pharmaceutical company.
However, the agreement for the supply of wind energy from Assuruá 4 is still subject to modifications or revocations by the Administrative Council for Economic Defense — CADE and financial institutions.
Maria del Pilar Muñoz, Vice President of Sustainability and New Business at Eurofarma highlights: “We were very challenged to find a solution that would allow us to reach the audacious goal of having our energy matrix 100% renewable in a short period of time.”
The executive also reinforced her enthusiasm with the new wind energy project: “We have the support of an external consultancy and the dedication of a multidisciplinary team. We are excited about the opening of the new wind farm. The green economy is already a reality and we want to take advantage of Brazil's power by investing more and more in solutions like this one”.
Eurofarma is a national reference in sustainability and Omega Energia's wind energy project will contribute to maintaining this status in the Brazilian market
Omega Energia celebrated the new partnership with Eurofarma for investments in the Assuruá 4 wind farm, highlighting that they took another important step in the execution of our environmental plan.
Eurofarma, the only pharmaceutical industry to have won five times in Guia Exame de Sustentabilidade, in 2013, 2015, 2018, 2019 and 2022, continues to invest in renewable energy solutions in 2023.
In addition, the partnership with a reference company in health shows total convergence with the objectives and principles of Omega Energia, which was born sustainable.
Thus, the wind energy project is yet another initiative that proves the pharmaceutical company's commitment to sustainability in Brazil.
