Apple recruits a Lamborghini executive for its self-driving electric car project that has been beset by problems since 2014!

When we hear news about the Apple Car, they are usually associated with the complications that Cupertino had when developing its mobility proposal. This time, however, a positive report on the project emerges. According to Mark Gurman, Bloomberg journalist and an impeccable source when it comes to the brand's future products, Apple has hired a key figure from Volkswagen Group's Lamborghini to involve it in the design of its self-driving car.

This is Luigi Taraborrelli, who for 20 years worked at the Italian automaker. During the last leg of his tenure at Lamborghini, he served as the person primarily responsible for chassis and vehicle dynamics. On his resume, he can boast of having worked on the development of the Lamborghini Urus, Hurricane and Aventador, which are the company's most distinguished models in recent times.

Cupertino enlists Luigi Taraborrelli to lead Apple Car design!

Taraborrelli has joined the California company's ranks to lead the design of the Apple Car, which is no small task. According to Gurman, the position of the aforementioned, but above all the moment he joined Apple, shows that the company is making steady progress in the development of its self-driving electric car. Of course, they don't plan to remove their foot from the accelerator.

In addition to Taraborrelli, Bloomberg also highlights Ulrich Kranz, former senior vice president of BMW's Electrics division. During the first few months of 2021, he started working on Apple Car security section.

The company also had executives who already have a long history in other areas of Apple. This is the case for Kevin Lynch, who in addition to driving everything related to the Apple Watch and health software, is also one of the main drivers of the Apple Car today. The other figure who accompanies him in the same position is John Giannandrea, responsible for machine learning at Apple.

A real autonomous car!

This isn't the first Apple Car information to appear this month. On July 11, The Information echoed that the vehicle would not have a steering wheel or pedals - coinciding with an earlier report by Bloomberg. On the other hand, the seats would be facing each other – like in limousines – which would make it easier for passengers to carry on a conversation. There is even talk of a system of discouragement in order to sleep. The rest of the interior would integrate tech everywhere, starting with big screens.

Of course, the same report warns that Tim Cook (CEO of Apple) and Craig Federighi (Senior Vice President of Software) would no longer be so confident in the development of the Apple Car. The reason? The constant movement on the team and the absence of one person who really puts you on the path to the project.

It seems, then, that as long as we don't have official details of the company's Apple Car, reports on its status will remain mixed. At least today, the signing of Luigi Taraborrelli is a positive step.
