On the 24th and 25th of May, Petrobras carried out the 1st oil transhipment operation using a Suezmax class vessel at the Porto do Açu Complex

The Oil Terminal (T-OIL) of Açu Petróleo (partnership of Prumo Logística and Oiltanking), located in the Port of Açu Complex, in the north of the state of Rio de Janeiro, carried out, on May 24 and 25, the 1st Petrobras transhipment operation through a Suezmax class ship, with the mooring of the vessels Henrique Dias (exporter) and Brasil 2014 (airlifter). The operation refers to the contract signed with the state-owned company in March this year, with an initial duration of 2 years.

“Until today, Petrobras operated in Brazil only at its own terminals in Angra dos Reis and São Sebastião, for the export of oil. We are the first private terminal in the country to carry out operations for the oil company and this is a source of great pride for Açu Petróleo. Our differentials, such as the strategic location, close to the Santos and Campos basins, capacity to receive VLCC class vessels and carry out transshipment in a sheltered area, were decisive in establishing this new and promising partnership”, said Victor Snabaitis Bomfim, president of Açu Petroleum.

With a depth of 25 meters and licensed capacity to handle up to 1,2 million barrels of oil per day, T-OIL is the only Brazilian private terminal capable of receiving VLCC class vessels, with a storage capacity of up to 2 million barrels of crude oil.

Porto do Açu, GNA and BPort discussed billionaire investment for regional development on May 22nd and 23rd

The Porto do Açu Complex was one of the participants in the North and Northwest Fluminense Regional Development Seminar, held on May 22 and 23, at the Convention Center of the State University of Norte Fluminense (UENF). Porto do Açu Operations, GNA – Gás Natural Açu and BPort (a company of the Edison Chouest Group) presented their businesses and discussed the importance of investing in infrastructure for regional development.

“Of the R$ 162 billion in investments planned for the next 5 years, in the state of Rio, R$ 19 billion will be invested in 12 large projects in the North and Northwest of Fluminense. Of these, 6 are in Açu”, said Caio Cunha, Institutional Relations manager at Porto do Açu.

Among the main ongoing investments in the Complex are the construction of two natural gas thermoelectric plants and a regasification terminal, developed by GNA. “We are building the largest thermoelectric park in Latin America. A challenging project, which involves investments of BRL 8 billion and which is an anchor for the development of Rio de Janeiro. We need to create the necessary mechanisms to attract capital and, thus, at least double our investments in the State”, said Carlos Baldi, Director of Operations.

“We developed the largest offshore support base in the world at Açu, with an average movement of 4 trucks per month. We have already experienced the resumption of the oil & gas market and the sector is expected to grow. Investing in improving access and connectivity, such as on RJ 244 – which will connect Campos directly to Açu, is fundamental”. Said the General Manager of Operations at BPort, Paulino Nóbrega

“We have in Açu, which is still a recent complex, an undertaking potentially larger than the Port of Santos, which today is responsible for 30% of the country's exports and imports, generating billions of reais in tax collections and hundreds of thousands of jobs. Can you imagine what Açu could become in the coming years? To contribute to this growth, we assumed the commitment of the state government to solve the region's connectivity problems, starting with the contour of the BR101, near Campos”, highlighted the State Transport Secretary, Delmo Pinho.
