Petrobras plans to resume building its platforms, due to the excitement of the platform charter market. The information comes from Rudimar Lorenzatto, Director of Production and Technology Development, who participated this Friday, October 25, in a teleconference with market analysts. The state-owned company reported this Friday that it rose 37% and reached R$ 9 billion in the 3rd quarter.
There is still no definition on the number of vessels that the state intends to acquire, but the total or partial construction of the units in the country should have an impact on the economy and on the naval industry.

In market estimates, the cost of a platform vessel (FPSO) with a production capacity of 150 barrels per day is US$ 1,5 billion in the international market.
For the shipbuilding industry, it could be a sign of encouragement. In early 2010, the sector celebrated the resumption with orders for platforms and ships from Petrobras, but, since 2015, it has sunk into a crisis after the state-owned company cut orders, a reflection of the corruption scandal revealed by Operation Lava-Jato — with investigations that reached the controllers of several national shipyards.
According to Lorenzatto, the choice for construction has always been a desire of the state-owned company, however, it will result from the economic viability of the projects.
The director also said that Petrobras intends to strengthen its presence and investments in the Campos Basin. The evolution of production in the region is not foreseen for the moment, it will be done in the coming years.
According to Anelise Lara, director of Refining at Petrobras, the next investments by the state-owned company in the area of outflow of natural gas production, which involve gas pipelines from processing units, will be made in partnership with other operators in the area.
This Friday, the director was asked how Petrobras intends to transport the large volume of natural gas that will come from the pre-salt layer.
Lara told the analyst when talking about the balance for the third quarter of this year, “We are already thinking about capitalizing on this gas that will still be produced in new projects, but most will be in partnerships”.
According to her, mainly the south of the Campos and Santos basins are “proliferous for gas” and certainly the three routes that had been programmed by Petrobras for this purpose will not be enough.
