Find out who produced the world's first electric armored car in São Paulo

Professionals from Grupo Protege, a private security company, in partnership with Eletra Industrial and MIB Blindados, developed, over 18 months, an electric armored car to transport valuables with a pure electric traction system.

The São Paulo electric car has a WEG 250L engine and is a retrofit of a diesel armored car chassis, which has already been withdrawn from circulation, reducing environmental damage and encouraging the recycling of parts.

All the elements that were not added to the new strong electric car in São Paulo, such as the fuel-powered engine, for example, were destined for recycling.

Pronouncement of the companies on the electric armored car

The first 100% electric armored car in the world is from the Protege Group

According to the president of the Protege Group, Marcelo Baptista, the armored car project is a vision beyond our time, in line with a world trend focused on actions that do not impact so much on the environment.

In addition to emitting zero pollutants and using 100% national technology, the company made the electric car from a demobilized chassis and forwarded the diesel engine and previous transmission system to recycling, Baptista said.

Eletra's executive director, Iêda de Oliveira, says that the armored car in São Paulo is part of an unprecedented project at a world level, and is of paramount importance for the electric mobility sector in the country. It also demonstrates that Brazil has all the possible conditions to invest in an innovative way with Brazilian technology, aligning itself with the great new trend of electric cars in the world.

Meet the world's first armored electric car

The armored car prototype has a range of 75 kilometers, and its recharge time lasts an average of two and a half hours. When the vehicle is operating, its battery system is continuously recharged by its regenerative braking technology. A fixed charger was also installed at Grupo Protege's base of operations, in the capital of São Paulo.

The average emission reduction that the armored electric car produces is approximately 1,4 tons of CO2 per month, in addition to savings for the Protege Group (about 64% in diesel saved).
