Ten-Year Energy Plan (PDE) 2030, foresees that the oil and gas sector in the next decade will bring several investments and new exploration platforms
The Ten-Year Energy Plan (PDE) is an informative document prepared annually by EPE under the guidelines and support of teams from the Secretariat for Energy Planning and Development (SPE/MME) and the Secretariat for Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels. In the plan, for the next decade it is expected that investment in the oil and gas sector will be up to R$ 454 billion, and that Brazil may have 39 new platforms.

The PDE 2030 shows that today's difficult economic situation, the drop in the price of a barrel, the impact of the pandemic and even possible further revisions in the planning of oil companies may affect these investment projections in the next cycle.
The projection shows that oil production in Brazil will reach 5,3 million barrels per day by 2030, about twice the value recorded in 2019. To support the growth of this curve, the plan believes that the country will install up to 39 new platforms over the next 10 years.
“It is assumed that part of this demand can be met through the current trend of standardizing FPSO-type UEP projects and converting existing vessels, thus allowing for the optimization of terms and construction costs. The possibility of chartering is also accepted for cases of delays in the delivery of UEP – production unit”, highlights the Ten-Year Energy Plan.
EPE – Empresa de Pesquisa Energética, announced that the production of natural gas sustained only by resources in the reserve category will peak in 2028, reaching the level of 183 million cubic meters per day, until the end of the ten-year period it will decrease slightly .
The PDE document reinforces the view that the pre-salt layer will continue to account for the growth trajectory of the country's total oil production. At the end of 2030, the layer will be responsible for a large part (approximately 79%) of the national oil production. In this case, the Santos Basin will have a strong influence on production.
