Senai inaugurated, this week, its unit that will be specialized in renewable energy, in Rio Grande do Norte, and has been gaining prominence in the media due to its laboratory focused on the wind sector, known as “Túnel de Vento”
Last Tuesday (15), World Wind Day, the SENAI Institute for Innovation in Renewable Energy was inaugurated in Rio Grande do Norte. The unit promises to bring solutions, which aim to boost Brazilian sustainability, reducing costs and creating more efficiency in the distributed generation of the renewable energy market, including both wind energy and solar energy.

Authorities pronounce on the Senai unit in Rio Grande do Norte
According to Amaro Sales de Araújo, president of the Federation of Industries of the State of Rio Grande do Norte, the state is a national leader in the generation of wind energy and has the largest investors in the sector installed in the territory. In addition, the new Senai unit seeks to support these companies not only in RN, but in all Brazilian states.
It promises to bring several modern features to add value and transform projects, which used to be problems, now into solutions. According to Emerson da Cunha Batista, regional director of SENAI/RN, the Institute is part of the actions of the Center for Gas Technologies and Renewable Energy (CTGAS-ER), the Senai unit that trains labor for industries.

The ISI-ER is part of a network formed by 26 Innovation institutes, which were implemented by SENAI in the country to meet the most different needs of the industry. The inauguration was held that day to reinforce the importance of wind energy.
The unit, located in Natal, Rio Grande do Norte, will be Senai's main reference for research, development and innovation focused on wind and solar energy.
The Wind Tunnel
Among the biggest highlights of Senai's wind and solar energy unit is the Wind Tunnel, the first laboratory to meet the demands of the wind sector in Brazil. It conducts research, provides services for calibrating anemometers and also makes it possible to assess the performance of structures.
When the laboratory focused on wind energy begins its operations, it will reduce at least 3 months the logistics time that companies spend to carry out their services abroad, in European countries.
The Wind Tunnel will join Senai's renewable energy and sustainability sector laboratories. Operations are carried out by teams of researchers made up of meteorologists, engineers, chemists and geographers. Rio Grande do Norte, which was chosen as the host city, is one of the countries that produce the most wind energy in Brazil and not only that, it is the state with the highest power expected for the coming years.
