Summary of the Brazilian company's Puma II Project

Puma II will be implemented in the municipality of Ortigueira, in the central region of the state of Paraná, where the first Kablin factory was inaugurated in 2016. of R$ 2 billion, in 2021 the R$ 6 billion of the entire investment forecast will be completed.

The scenario is favorable to replace various products derived from plastic with new paper options, more ecological and sustainable, according to Cristiano Teixeira, president of Kablin: “Single-use plastic replacement is reality”. He emphasizes that China and countries on the European continent are already well advanced in this new aspect of the segment, but Latin America and the United States are also starting to work on this process.

According to Teixeira, the plastic trade revolves around 400 million tons annually: “Of this total, 160 million tons are plastics intended for single-use packaging. That's the focus. For this (replacement with paper products) we have invested a lot in research and development.”

After a few years of low productivity and commercialization, the director of the Brazilian company Kablin, José Soares, pointed out that the market is taking steps towards stabilization in the following months, consequently recovering commerciality and job creation: “In the second quarter there is some possibility of reaction in prices”, he adds. In his view, this recovery will be more noticeable in the second half of 2020.

Civil construction will strengthen Brazil's economy and Kablin's revenues

The current scenario favors Kablin in terms of greater participation in the Brazilian market and increased revenues, according to Teixeira. Civil construction will take place above all due to the increase in civil construction activities.

“The national economy is very strong for us”, said Teixeira, during Klabin Day. “Our corrugated paper and industrial bags unit broke a record in October and November”, says the executive. “And we are taking orders for December, which is not normal (as year-end orders tend to be brought forward).”
