In the middle of the Women's Day week, the Cuiabá region gained great prominence in relation to the presence of women in the renewable energy sector, mainly solar energy. Oeste Solar, a company focused on the production of photovoltaic energy, commented this Tuesday (08/03) on the female presence within the company and the large jobs occupied by these women.

Cuiabá stands out in relation to the presence of women in the solar energy market and new jobs arise for them in photovoltaic production

The renewable energy market has changed a lot over the last few years, especially with regard to gender disparity, since this was a segment very marked by the male presence and, today, it has been opening doors for women in these jobs. Thus, a major current highlight in the Brazilian market is the region of Mato Grosso and, mainly, Cuiabá, which are employing more and more women in the photovoltaic field. 

The expressiveness of solar energy in the global market is getting bigger and, according to studies by the International Renewable Energy Agency (Irena), in 2019 alone, the renewable energy sector generated 11,5 million jobs worldwide and the photovoltaic solar energy industry accounted for a third of the total. In addition, 32% were completed by jobs held by women and these numbers have only been growing over the years, proving the progress in relation to gender differences within the photovoltaic energy segment. 

Thus, the entry of these women into the solar energy job market represents a great achievement for the female struggle and, consequently, a great advance within this segment. The state of Mato Grosso has been consecrated as one of the largest in relation to female employability within renewable energies and a good part of these results are a consequence of the constant search for professional training that these women seek, aiming at better opportunities within the labor market and a rise professional.

Grupo Oeste Solar is present in the employability of women within the solar energy sector in the region of Cuiabá, Mato Grosso

The prominence of Cuiabá and the state of Mato Grosso within the issue of women in the field of photovoltaic energy is a consequence of large companies that are taking part in this fight, mainly Oeste Solar. The company is the leader in installed photovoltaic generation capacity, in distributed generation, responsible for approximately 30% of the 86 MW in the capital of Mato Grosso, and has been seeking more and more integrate the female figure within the solar energy market, as a way of contributing to this advancement in the field. 

With that, the director of Oeste Solar, Tiago Vianna, commented on this presence in the company and highlighted that “At Oeste Solar we have a policy of valuing and recognizing these professionals, in the pursuit of gender equity. The market trend in which we operate is for growth in the coming years and, consequently, we will have more jobs occupied by competent women in everything they do. So, we would like to congratulate you, women, on your day and thank you for your work”.

In addition, employees such as Neuza de Almeida Oliveira and Ariete de Espírito Santos point out that the job opportunities offered by the company were essential for them to be able to enter this segment and that, today, thanks to this work, they feel more fulfilled in the professional field. and more skilled within their field.
