New developments in the pickup truck segment promise to shake up the national market. Check out the monsters that are coming
The Brazilian pickup truck market is about to receive a series of new features in the coming years, with at least 10 releases scheduled to arrive in the country. These new trucks promise to diversify even more options available to consumers, with models ranging from model updates already known until new arrivals on the market. Check out some of the trucks that are arriving below!
volkswagen amarok
The Volkswagen Amarok pickup truck, manufactured in Argentina, will receive a restyling in South America. The new front, inspired by the Saveiro, is scheduled for the second quarter of this year. It is expected that the engine continue being the 3.0 V6 turbodiesel 258 hp and 59,1 kgfm, but there may be the option of the four-cylinder 2.0 TDi in more affordable configurations.
Mitsubishi L200
The new generation of the Mitsubishi L200 pickup truck, already being tested in Brazil, should be launched in early 2025. Produced in Catalão (GO), the new L200 It will have a completely renewed platform and look, including a remodeled dashboard with a digital instrument panel and a floating multimedia center. O 2.4 turbodiesel engine it will be upgraded to 214 hp and 48 kgfm of torque, with a six-speed automatic transmission and a load capacity of 1.060 kg.
Renault Niagara, the Oroch replacement
Renault presented the concept of the Niagara pickup truck, which will replace the Oroch. Expected to be produced in Argentina from 2026, Niagara will have hybrid engine and traction in four wheels. With a different design from the current Oroch, its size will be closer to that of the Fiat Toro, indicating a possible coexistence between the two models in the brand's range.
150% electric Ford F-1500 and Ram 100
Both the Ford F-150 and Ram 1500 pickup trucks, two of the most iconic pickup trucks in the United States, will have electric versions. The F-150 Lightning, with 588 hp and a range of 386 km, and the Ram 1500 Revolution, with 3.0 engine six-cylinder from the Hurricane family, more efficient and powerful than the current 8 hp V400.
GWM Poer and BYD Shark, hybrid and electric
The Chinese GWM promises Poer, a hybrid pickup plug-in, which should arrive between this year and 2025, with local production in Iracemápolis (SP). BYD will bring the Shark, also a plug-in hybrid, with external recharging and almost 500 hp combined. Both promise to revolutionize the market with their technology.
Jac Hunter, electric or diesel
JAC will launch the Hunter pickup truck, an update of the iEV-330P, with a 2.0 turbo configuration 170 horsepower and 41,8 kgfm of torque with 4×4 traction. A electric version The pickup will have 204 hp and 30,1 kgfm, in addition to 4×2 rear-wheel drive, with battery capacity increasing to 77 kWh, improving autonomy.
Toyota “Torolla”, competitor of Fiat Toro
Part of Toyota's R$11 billion investment in Brazil, “Torolla” pickup truck will be a competitor to Fiat Toro, platform-based TNGA-C for Corolla and Corolla Cross. With production in Sorocaba (SP) between 2026 and 2027, it will be the debut of the hybrid engine flex plugin developed in Brazil.
Volkswagen Tarok, production in São José dos Pinhais (PR)
Volkswagen will invest $ 9 billion to produce the Tarok, an intermediate pickup truck in São José dos Pinhais (PR). With a 1.5 TSI Evo2 engine, which produces 150 horsepower and 25,5 kgfm of torque, the Tarok will be a strong competitor in the segment.
