The entire load of nickel concentrate leaves the company's production unit, Mina Santa Rita, based in the Bahian municipality of Itagibá, just 140km away from the maritime terminal, where the shipment is shipped to the international electrification market.

Atlantic Nickel breaks annual record and exports exactly 91.339,4 tons of nickel to China

The destination of the most recent shipment, completed last week, was China, a country on the Asian continent that received, through the Port of Xingang, a shipment of 10.771,69 tons of high quality, 100% Bahian nickel concentrate. This is the ninth shipment carried out by Atlantic Nickel, achieving a significant annual partial result of exactly 91.339,4 tons sold, a level higher than the total reached in 2020, which reached 67,7 thousand tons destined for the foreign market.

Through an operation that prioritizes safety, efficiency and sustainability, the ore extracted by Atlantic Nickel has significant levels of copper and cobalt, which increases the added value of sales. The company is one of the largest open pit nickel sulphide mines in the world and the only one in this segment operating in Brazil.

In addition to the frank expansion of nickel production and sale, the success of the business is directly linked to the permanent efforts to conserve nature, since, in addition to exporting the ore to help the world have clean energy sources, Atlantic Nickel maintains the purpose of preserving the environment and respecting the community to which it belongs.

Atlantic Nicke is the only company producing sulphide nickel in Brazil

Única is the largest producer of sulphide nickel in the country, Atlantic Nickel has been operating since October 2019 in the extraction of essential ore for the manufacture of batteries for electric vehicles. There are more than 1.700 direct jobs generated by the business and R$ 151 million injected into purchases and contracts with suppliers in Bahia from 2018 to 2020.

The projection of companhia is to double production capacity, with the start of underground operations at Santa Rita Mine, scheduled for 2028, which will increase the mine's useful life from eight to 34 years (8 years of open-pit mine + 26 years of mine underground). According to the Preliminary Economic Assessment, around US$ 355 million should be invested in the first five years of this new phase.

In addition, Atlantic Nickel is already celebrating the recent discovery of a new deposit with significant potential for nickel resources just 26km away, and in the same geological belt, where the Santa Rita Mine already operates.
