The United Arab Emirates and Brazil have teamed up to produce long-range missiles at a new factory in São Paulo. The partnership was signed between the EDGE Group and SIATT, and aims to compete with France, number 1 in the defense market.
Brazil could become one of the main producers of long-range missiles in the world, thanks to a partnership between the Brazilian company SIATT and the Arab group EDGE Group. SIATT, which already manufactures intelligent weapons for the Brazilian Armed Forces, received an investment of US$3 billion from the EDGE Group, which purchased 50% of its capital last year. O investment will be used to build a weapons factory in São José dos Campos, in the interior of São Paulo, which will have 7 thousand square meters and generate 200 direct jobs.
Billion-dollar partnership between SIATT and EDGE Group promises to revolutionize the missile market with new factory
The new factory will focus on the development and production of long-range missiles, which can hit targets up to 70 kilometers away.
This type of weaponry is strategic for naval defense, as it allows you to neutralize threats before they approach the coast.
SIATT currently has a contract with the Brazilian Navy to supply MANSUP, the national long-range anti-ship missile, which is still in the qualification phase and should enter into operation in 2025.
The Arab conglomerate bets on Brazilian long-range missile technology
The EDGE Group, in turn, is a conglomerate of 25 companies controlled by the United Arab Emirates government, which operates in the defense and security sector.
The group was created in 2019, following the UAE's withdrawal from the war in Yemen, and aims to become one of the world leaders in defense solutions.
A partnership with SIATT it aims to expand the long-range missile market, which is currently dominated by the French company MDBA, which manufactures a missile capable of reaching 200 kilometers.
The EDGE Group and SIATT missile factory is expected to begin operating in 2026, and promises to place Brazil at the forefront of defense technology.
The project should also strengthen commercial and diplomatic relations between Brazil and the United Arab Emirates, which are strategic partners in the Middle East region.
