Brazilian ethanol presents better conditions to contribute to the reduction of pollutants generated by fuels

Faced with the expectation of growth generated by ethanol, Raízen seeks improvements to expand the service to this demand. In an interview conducted by the portal Energia Que Fala Com Você, Raízen executive Francis Vernon Quenn spoke about the company's expectations regarding this expansion in the use of ethanol.

On new investments made by countries 

Asked about the possible investments to be made by India and China in the coming years, something that could reach 20 billion liters, the vice president highlighted the quality of the product produced by Brazil. ” It is important to highlight the enormous differentials of our ethanol. It is currently the best global solution to offset fossil fuel consumption, both economically and environmentally'', highlighted. 

The contribution that Brazilian ethanol adds to the health of the environment worldwide 

Faced with the need for renewable fuels, Queen spoke about the properties of Brazilian ethanol, which has better results than other fuels around the world. '' Brazilian ethanol emits CO2 about 4,5 times less than gasoline in the United States. And the hybrid vehicle, which is commercially available in Brazil, is now the lowest-emitting vehicle, even compared to alternative EVs globally'', informed. 

How Raízen has been preparing to meet the needs of ethanol in other production sectors 

In addition to the use of ethanol for the manufacture of fuels, the product has been used to supply other productions, and this has caused the company to be even more prepared. "In the view of root, the challenge will be very great, since we are not only seeing an increase in the global demand for adding ethanol to gasoline, but we are also seeing a growing demand for the use of ethanol for other purposes, such as green plastic, SAF (Sustainable aviation fuel) and others''. 

Data on the production of ethanol in Brazil  

According to data released by the National Supply Company (Conab), in the 2019/2020 harvest, the country broke a record for ethanol production, reaching the mark of 35,6 billion liters of the product.  

Finally, in view of all this demand that lies ahead, the executive also stated that the company has been preparing itself by investing in technology qualification to accompany this growth. “We believe technology will help significantly. Today, Raízen has second-generation ethanol (E2G) technology, which has the potential to increase current production in Brazil by approximately 50%.. This technology can also be used with other types of biomass. We believe that this type of solution will be an important pillar of the global solution to meet this growing demand”, said.
