The Gold Star probe is one of three semi-submersible probes; The new contract with Petrobras will come into effect in January 2020.

Constellation has just announced the reactivation of the Gold Star rig, which will fulfill contracts with Petrobras scheduled for the beginning of next year. Last month, the company announced the signing of a contract involving Omni Táxi Aéreo to service its drillship Amaralina Star. 

The Gold Star rig is the first in a line of three semi-submersible rigs that will begin their contracts with Petrobras.

In July of this year, Petrobras renewed the contract for 3 Constellation offshore rigs, the units are the Alpha Star, Gold Star and Lone Star rigs and the new contract with Petrobras takes effect in January 2020

The units, Alpha Star and Gold Star, are ultra-deepwater semi-submersible drilling rigs capable of drilling to depths of up to 9.000 feet. The Lone Star is capable of drilling to depths of up to 7.900 feet.

According to the company, last Sunday, October 05th, was a very important day, with a significant step in the probe's reactivation.

The Constellation, company provider of onshore and offshore well drilling services and platform operations, also informed that the new contract with the Brazilian oil company will come into effect in January 2020.

At the moment, Gold Star is positioned in Area 1, in Guanabara Bay, for the installation of its thrusters, the information was announced by the official company news vehicle

“We congratulate all our stars who have been conducting this preparation with great determination and commitment”, declared Constellation.

Constellation has a fleet of eight offshore drilling rigs, two of which are anchored semi-submersibles for operation in water depths of up to 1.100 meters, three dynamic positioning rigs for operation in water depths of up to 2.700 meters and three drillships for operation in water depths up to 3.000 meters.
