Negotiations with Eletrobras fail and workers from the Eletrobras group approve a 72-hour strike at an assembly

Negotiations regarding the 2019 Collective Bargaining Agreement (ACT) between Eletrobras group workers and the company were unsuccessful.
In an assembly held last week, workers decided on a 72-hour strike, which would start on June 03rd.

Last Wednesday (22/05), a meeting was held where several points were not settled between Eletrobras and the workers.
One of them was the company's wage readjustment proposal, which was 1,5% while the workers demanded the replacement of the period's inflation, which was 4,5%.

According to Emanuel Torres, director of the Association of Eletrobras Employees (Aeel) and director of the National Electricity Collective (CNE) in Rio de Janeiro, the company is taking a radical stance by offering a proposal that does not satisfy the desires of workers.

The Director also clarified that Eletrobras proposed the withdrawal of several clauses conquered in previous collective agreements.

One of the clauses exemplified by Torres was the one that prohibits Eletrobras from making mass layoffs.
The workers of the Eletrobras group do not accept setbacks in relation to their employment contracts, but the director declared that the unions will wait for Eletrobras to take a stand until the day set to start the strike, since the 2019 collective agreement had a 30-day extension.
