With a capacity of 2 tons and intended for cabotage transport, container ships will be built at the Enseada shipyard, Bahia, and promise to stir up the region's naval market
Bahia's shipbuilding sector is beginning to show signs of a strategy for economic recovery, after six years in a state of suspension. In July, the naval company Petrocity Portos SA announced a partnership with Estaleiro Enseada for the construction of two container ships, with funding approved by the Fundo Nacional de Marinha Mercante.

Construction of ships promises to generate jobs in Bahia
Destined for cabotage transport (between national ports) from January 2021, the construction of the two 1.500-foot ships (75 TEUS) at the Enseada shipyard will generate 750 jobs in Maragogipe, Bahia.
According to the president of Petrocity Portos, the completion of the construction of the ships is expected to take place even before the end of the work on the port in Urussuquara, in São Mateus (ES), which will operate from the Enseada Shipyard itself.
This is the first large-scale contract for the Enseada shipyard, since the naval crisis was hit due to Operation Lava Jato. It is worth mentioning that the Enseada Shipyard initially belonged to a consortium formed by Odebrecht Engenharia Industrial, OAS and UTC Engenharia. Currently, the industry belongs only to Odebrecht Engenharia, which is also Petrocity's partner in building the port.
