Railroad will be used to transport Suzano's pulp and paper

The decision taken at the meeting of the board of the Ministry of Infrastructure (Minfra) last Thursday (20), will allow investments of R$ 1,770 billion. The company pointed out that the railroad in Mato Grosso do Sul will have a length of approximately 231 km in broad gauge, this being an interconnection branch of Rumo Malha Norte (RMN), with the project called Cerrado, in Ribas do Rio Pardo, to the transport of pulp and paper from the mill.

In this connection with the RMN, the construction of a waiting/dispatch yard with a length of 1,8 meters is considered, capable of absorbing compositions of up to 80 Spicos wagons. In Ribas do Rio Pardo, however, consideration is being given to using a stretch that will directly access the storage warehouse, in addition to other logistical issues.

Suzano also promises to build a railway branch in Mato Grosso do Sul

The authorization from the Ministry of Infrastructure (Minfra) for the construction of the railway branch of the paper and cellulose factory, Suzano, aimed at a "shortline" of 24,7 kilometers in the municipality of Mato Grosso do Sul, Três Lagoas, will be to interconnect the Arco do Contorno da Rumo Malho Oeste (RMO) and the two pulp and paper production units.

Approximately R$ 170 million will be invested in the undertaking. In the application for the claim, the paper and cellulose factory explained that it starts in a line parallel to the arc of the current outline of Três Lagoas, in a section to be adjusted for mixed gauge, and will have a local extension to function as an entrance yard- waiting with a length of 1.800 m. The branch itself will run parallel to the BR-158, up to the factories area.

Other requests for railroads in Brazilian states

From October last year until this year, six orders were placed for the construction of stretches in Mato Grosso do Sul that, in total, will receive investments of R$ 5,960 billion in the construction of 656,7 km of railways.

Suzano submitted three requests, two of which were approved by the Ministry of Infrastructure (Minfra). The company is now awaiting approval for a railroad project from Aparecida do Taboado to Três Lagoas. According to the Ministry of Infrastructure, in addition to Suzano's requests, two other authorization contracts have already been signed.
