The investment was made, with CADE's approval, to acquire Ventos de Santo Antão, with about 4 wind farms generating clean energy!

Cade, after approval by its General Superintendence, validated the sale of Ventos de Santo Antão to the Portuguese clean energy multinational, Galp, which will become the owner of the 4 wind farms available in Rio Grande do Norte. Each wind farm has 50 MW. along with the investment, Galp will also own the greenfield project, which was developed and sold by Casa dos Ventos.

This new venture by Galp is part of its strategy to expand its portfolio of renewable energy generation, since the company is already one of the main producers of photovoltaic solar energy in the Iberian Peninsula, with an installed capacity in operation of 1,2 GW. The company's main objective with the investment made is to increase its renewable energy production capacity worldwide to 4 GW by the year 2025 and 12 GW by the year 2030.

Galp's investments in Brazil

On Brazilian soil, the Portuguese company began its activities in the national power generation sector. energies renewables, in October 2021, through an agreement with SER Energia for the purchase of 594 MW in solar projects under development in Bahia and Rio Grande do Norte. In May 2022, the company entered into a new agreement with SER Energia for the purchase of photovoltaic solar energy projects under development, with a maximum total capacity of 4,6 GW peak. Now, Galp's investment was in Casa dos Ventos, for a 216 MW cluster of wind farms under development in the Northeast.

About Galp Energia and its investments

The new owner of Casa dos Ventos is also the third largest oil and gas producer in Brazil, through Petrogal, which it manages in partnership with the Chinese company Sinopec. The Portuguese oil company, a partner of Petrobras in essential pre-salt fields, such as Tupi, has ten-year contracts with Sergas (SE), Cegás (CE) and, since September, also with the capixaba piped gas distributor, ES Gás, since in the same month of September Galp signed its third long-term contract for the sale of natural gas in the Brazilian market.

The contract with ES Gás now adds up to 912 million m³ of gas supply by 2032, with volumes being able to be gradually increased over the contractual term. The total estimated value exceeds R$ 1,9 billion. It is the first time that ES Gás will have another supplier of natural gas in addition to Petrobras.
