President Maduro commends firefighters for tackling fires in Cuba

Nicolás Maduro said that Cuba will not be left alone under any circumstances, as it will always have the support of the peoples of the world.

Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro instructed Oil Minister Tareck El Aissami and PDVSA President Asdrúbal Chávez on Tuesday to to support the reconstruction of the oil base devastated last week by a fire in the city of Matanzas, Cuba.

During a ceremony in honor of the group of firefighters who helped to contain the accident in Cuba, President Maduro ordered the Venezuelan authorities to establish communication with the Cuban authorities to begin the restoration of the structure of the fuel tank yard in Matanzas.

“Cuba knows that it has our scientific, technical, engineering and worker support; (…) get in touch with the Cuban oil and energy authorities to start the project to rebuild the supertank yard in Matanzas,” said the president.

Later, he assured that Cuba will not be alone under any circumstances, as it will always have "the support of the peoples of the world and sensitive, courageous and humanist governments".

“Fidel and Chávez founded the union of Cuba and Venezuela, taking it to the highest level anyone could have thought of. We kept him here”, emphasized the main Venezuelan leader to increase the solidarity of his compatriots in the fire department.

At the ceremony, President Maduro delivered a replica of Carabobo's victorious saber and imposed the Order "Francisco de Miranda" on his Second Precursor Class to the delegation of Venezuelan Petroleum Specialists (PDVSA) who returned from his successful mission.

The leader also said that the group of 43 firefighters "will bring love and values ​​of the Fatherland to that great work that awaited them in Cuba, both countries being an example of solidarity and fraternity".

The day before, Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez posted on his Twitter account: “We will never forget the heroism and fraternity of the Mexicans and Venezuelans who came to support us in the confrontation with the fire”.
