The future of the national oil and gas sector was the theme of the seminar with the participation of the ANP to discuss guidelines and strategies

One of the most discussed topics in Brazil in recent years is the national oil and gas sector, which faced one of its biggest financial crises, due to embezzlements caused by the mismanagement of some directors and politicians. Those responsible for the event gathered several professionals in the area to talk about the right path to follow and how to resume the oil and gas business. The general director of ANP Décio Oddone, was one of the speakers and focused on the following theme “Oil and Gas Sector in Brazil, impacts on the economy”. he spoke about the potential and opportunities for Brazil in the scenario of bidding rounds for blocks for exploration and production of oil and natural gas.

Upcoming investments

The highlight of the seminar was the presentation by the director-general, stating that by 2054 investments of R$ 1,8 trillion and collection of R$ 6 trillion will be expected. Totaling BRL 167 billion a year, which is equivalent to the current fiscal deficit in Brazil”. According to Décio Oddone, there is potential for Brazil to produce 5,5 million barrels of oil per day in 2027, which means more than 60 new platforms installed.

The low carbon economy

General director Décio Oddone also showed that the world is experiencing the transition to a low-carbon economy. “The country needs to stop losing opportunities and definitely choose to transform its resources into wealth, while these resources have value, and when we need to lift millions of people out of poverty”. The seminar was highly praised for being a subject of extreme importance for the Brazilian population.
