At least five shipyards between China and Brazil will manufacture the next pre-salt FPSOs for Libra and the Assignment of Rights in the Santos Basin

At least five shipyards distributed between China and Brazil will be responsible for the works of the next FPSOs in the areas of Libra and Cessão Onerosa, in the Santos Basin pre-salt. Jobs on sight! Equinor predicts for the beginning of 2020, more than 1200 workers in activities in the Campos Basin.

The Brazilian shipyard Brasfels, in Angra dos Reis (RJ) together with the Chinese shipyard Bomesc, in the city of Tianjin, and Cosco, in Dalian, will be responsible for the work on the FPSO Carioca, operated by Modec, which will be installed in the Sépia field, in the Santos basin.

Chartered to Modec, the FPSO Carioca, has its first oil scheduled for 2021.

The works on FPSO Guanabara will be shared between EBR (Estaleiros do Brasil), in São José do Norte (RS), and Cosco, in China. The unit is also chartered by Modec and will produce in Mero 1 from 2021.

The FPSO Almirante Barroso, assigned to the Búzios 5 field, is scheduled for operation in 2022, and so far, it is the only one guaranteed in the construction of the Cosco shipyard.

So far, Modec is negotiating with other shipyards for remaining parts of the scope.

First contracted platform SBM after the company's precautionary blocking period with Petrobras, the FPSO Sepetiba (Mero 2) will be manufactured by the Chinese CMHI-Nantong and Bomesc-Tianjin and by the EBR. Its start-up is scheduled for 2023.
