The company's history began with lawyer Flávio Figueiredo Assis, who saw an opportunity in the Brazilian automotive scene with Law 8.723.

This legislation, enacted in 1993, establishes the reduction of CO2 emissions from vehicles by 2027, highlighting the end of combustion engines from 2028.

Thus, in February 2022, Flávio Assis founded Lecar, with headquarters in Alphaville, São Paulo, and an industrial plant in Caxias do Sul, Rio Grande do Sul.

The company's objective is to be the first electric car manufacturer in Brazil. The businessman highlights the importance of valuing the country through the national production of vehicles, with a focus on the energy transition.

Lecar has assembled an automotive engineering team, with professionals from companies such as Ford, Toyota and Nissan, and is preparing to make history in the Brazilian market.

The first step towards producing electric cars was to disassemble a Tesla to understand the engineering, which led to the development of the Lecar Model 459 prototype.

However, the company still faces challenges with the national tax burden, seeking government incentives to make electric cars more present on the streets.

Automaker Lecar expects to launch its first model in 2024

Lecar's first electric car model, the Model 459, is in the homologation phase in London, with a launch scheduled for December 2024.

With an estimated cost of R$279 thousand and autonomy of 400 km per charge, the company highlights the need for public policies to make prices more affordable.

In addition to the Model 459, Lecar plans to launch the popular Lecar POP model, with the goal of producing 300 vehicles per month in the first year.

The company plans to generate jobs, revenue of R$1 billion and invest in charging infrastructure in the Greater São Paulo region.

In this way, Lecar has already started 2024 focused on moving forward with its electric car manufacturer project in Brazil.
