The 10th edition of Brasil Offshore, held from the 25th to the 28th of June, in the city of Macaé, generated R$196 million in business in the first two days of the event.

The commemorative edition of Brasil Offshore's 20th anniversary was a success. A reserved space at the fair created by Firjan, ONIP and SEBRAE was one of the most important places of the event, we could say that it was the “heart” of the fair. The space for the business roundtable was the stage for 442 meetings and closing contracts (only counting the first two days) in the order of BRL 196 million, that is BRL 54 million more than the entire 2017 fair.

Karine Fragoso, manager of Oil, Gas and Naval at Firjan and general director of ONIP declared that: “This demonstrates the reheating of the oil and gas market in Brazil and Macaé”.

Another number that increased considerably was the number of participants, which was 30% higher than the previous edition.

The 22 companies considered anchors (possible buyers) of the event selected more than 300 potential suppliers to participate in the business roundtable, which included businessmen from Rio de Janeiro, Espírito Santo and Sergipe, among others.

At the business roundtable, suppliers and players in the oil and gas market sat face to face, talking about projects and supply possibilities in the local market. Obviously, the business roundtable was an initiative highly praised by the suppliers who were able to have direct contact with customers.

As for the large companies, it was an excellent opportunity to learn about the capacity of the local market and to leave business on track. According to Maurício Gomes, representative of Subsea7, “It is the second time that we participate and the last time, around 30% of the companies we talked to in the Round ended up being hired”.

Evandro Cunha, coordinator of the Municipal Commission of Firjan in Macaé, also praised the business roundtables, as with them it is possible to get to know the chain of suppliers in the region. The coordinator declared that: “The anchor company needs this supply chain and our region has many companies qualified to meet demands in this new moment of the oil and gas industry”.

it is to be expected, however, that the effects of the success of these rounds of negotiations will have a direct effect on employability and corroborate with the current wave of optimism that is plaguing the oil and gas market, it is a wait and see.
