BRF producers in Santa Catarina signed the first contracts to finance the installation of solar energy panels on the farms

In the state of Santa Catarina, producers that work in cooperation with BRF, one of the largest food companies in the world, signed the first contracts of the company's agreement with Banco do Brasil to finance the installation of solar energy on the farms. The agreement signed between BRF and BB stipulates that within BRF's sustainability plan, a total of 200 million reais will be passed on to producers seeking energy efficiency.

BRF's sustainability program

The agreement is part of BRF's long-term strategy and is one of the plan's initiatives, allowing the company to continue its commitment to sustainable development throughout the area and permeate all businesses. The company has set its own goal of increasing self-production capacity for clean or renewable energy by 50% over the next 10 years.

BRF did not specify the average unit cost, however, it is estimated that producers will no longer pay around 5 thousand reais per month for electricity. Poultry producers will have to invest between 250 reais and 300 reais. With 200 million reais, more than 650 units of this unit value can be installed.

Recently, BRF had announced about the “Visão 2030” plan announced in December last year, which aims to increase by 50% the self-production capacity of electricity from clean or renewable sources over the next 10 years. For this, the company had already signed an agreement with Banco Brasil that will provide a line of credit to finance investments in the installation of solar panels on farms in Santa Catarina and Paraná.
