Fortescue Future Industries, a subsidiary of Fortescue Metals Group, a mining company that is a global leader in the iron ore industry, will invest US$6 billion to build a green hydrogen plant in the state of Ceará. This is due to the broad prospects for sustainable sources, with demand in 2030 expected to reach 200 million tons.

According to the governor of the state of Ceará, Camilo Santana, the project should be important to increase the generation of jobs for people from Ceará. This new green hydrogen hub should still have a tax incentive plan until 2050, according to the Chief Executive of the state of Ceará. The objective is to facilitate the initiative and speed up the negotiations.

Qair Brasil unveiled a new hydrogen plant in the state

Qair Brasil announced at the end of June that it will build a new green hydrogen plant in the state of Ceará. The company, belonging to the French group Qair, says that the construction of the project is expected to be carried out in four stages, between 2023 and 2030. The green hydrogen venture could receive investments of almost R$ 4 billion.

Gustavo Silva, director of operations at Qair Brasil, says that a large part of the energy needed for the production of green hydrogen will be provided by the company's own wind and solar parks installed in the state of Ceará.

Ceará will receive US$ 5,4 billion in investments from the Australian multinational Enegix Energy. The green hydrogen project will be built in cooperation with the Ceará state government, which will build the world's largest green hydrogen plant and create thousands of jobs in the region.

According to the company's statement, Base One will create thousands of jobs during the construction period and hire hundreds of full-time operators to run its facilities, bringing positive and far-reaching social benefits to the local community and country. The new plant can reduce emissions of carbon dioxide by 10 million tonnes per year and will become the world's largest carbon reduction project.
