With new alternatives emerging to save on electricity costs, the city of Manaus sanctioned a Bill for the installation of solar energy panels throughout the city, aiming to ensure greater savings and sustainability in the capital.

Manaus City Hall recently sanctioned a Bill that guarantees the installation of solar energy panels throughout the city throughout this year. Until this Tuesday, (26/04), the objective of the project is to reduce electricity costs and save up to R$ 6 million in one year. In addition, the project will promote an idea of sustainability, and if it has positive results, it is expected to further expand the use of such systems.

Bill that guarantees the installation of solar energy panels is sanctioned by the city of Manaus, which will now coordinate the sustainability and economy project with electricity

The use of energy from renewable sources to reduce costs with electricity is a reality that is increasingly present in the national territory today and, with the aim of save millions With this resource, Manaus city hall announced a project to install solar energy panels throughout the city, aiming to take advantage of the great potential that the region has for the production of this resource.

Thus, the city hall will carry out the installation, throughout 2022, of nine photovoltaic generation centers with a total capacity estimated at 45 megawatts and, with the completion of the solar energy project, intends to save BRL 6 million per year with costs related to electricity. Law nº 2.870/2022, which was sanctioned this week, guarantees that the implementation, operation and maintenance services of the mini-plants will be granted to a private company in the region.

Despite not having disclosed which company will be responsible for the project, the city of Manaus stated that the initiative will be carried out through a specific purpose company in the form of a limited company or joint stock company, thus guaranteeing a specific deadline and very strict standards. within the agreement. The Bill was already being analyzed by various segments of the state administration, but after a favorable opinion from the Finance, Economy and Budget, and Constitution, Justice and Writing committees, it managed to be approved within the city.

Manaus City Hall is projecting savings of up to R$ 6 million in electricity costs over the first year of operation of solar panels

The high potential that the city has for generating solar energy will be very well used with the installation of solar panels and will bring a series of benefits to the region, including more environmental commitment and sustainability and, mainly, reduction in electricity costs. Thus, city hall technicians estimate that the system that takes advantage of sunlight can generate minimal economy of 10% per year, equivalent to more than R$ 6 million in the initial phases of the systems, with the possibility of expansion.

With that, the mayor of Manaus, David Almeida (Avante), commented on the initiative and the importance of the project for the city and stated that “Considering the favorable potential of the region for the generation of solar energy, the Municipal Executive seeks a minimum economy of ten percent with the electricity bill of the consumer units of the Manaus City Hall and still start using clean, non-polluting energy from a renewable source”,

Now, what is expected is that the city of Manaus decides which company will manage and carry out the construction of solar energy panels to reduce electricity costs and that the announcement will be made soon.
