With the discovery of natural gas reserves made after the drilling of wells in the Parnaíba and Recôncavo basins, Eneva and Alvopetro are now meeting with the ANP to discuss a possible exploration of the resource to expand the segment in Brazil

The companies Eneva and Alvopetro communicated to the National Petroleum Agency (ANP), last Friday (22/04), about the existence of a natural gas reserve in the Parnaíba and Recôncavo basins, after the drilling of wells in the regions and now intend to invest in expanding the market for this fuel by taking advantage of this new exploration well.

Drilling of wells in the Parnaíba and Recôncavo basins indicates the presence of an oil reserve that will be used by the companies Eneva and Alvopetro

After a long week of tests and inspections at various onshore drilling sites, Eneva discovered, along with Alvopetro, the existence of natural gas in wells in the Parnaíba and Recôncavo basins. Thus, the company notified the ANP that the well discovered a net pay (producing layer) of natural gas of 25 meters, with an average porosity of 8,2% and that it will now proceed to the next tests aimed at a possible exploitation of the resource. on site.

The drilling of well 182-C1, in the REC-T-182 block, took place at a depth of 2.936 meters and was essential for the discovery of the natural gas reserve at the site, as Eneva has been seeking more and more new exploration points of the resource in Brazil and, now, the wells could become some more of them. In addition, the field development plan should emerge as soon as the company prove to the ANP the existence of this resource in abundance with the new tests.

Thus, the CEO of Alvopetro, Corey Ruttan commented on the new expectations for the market future of natural gas in Brazil and how the discovery of this reserve in the drilling of wells could be important for the development of new ventures in the segment. The executive also stated that “The preliminary results of drilling our 182-C1 well represent the first successful step in our organic growth strategy to expand our natural gas business in Brazil. We are currently increasing the capacity of our gas processing unit and look forward to testing this well.”

Eneva and Alvopetro will continue with new tests and studies in the natural gas wells after the successful drilling carried out in recent weeks

After the start of tests in the drilling wells for the natural gas meeting, the companies will continue with the processes in accordance with ANP regulations and, thus, Alvopetro will mobilize the drilling rig for a next exploration site, well 183-B1, which should be drilled in May for the start of exploration of the resource in the place over the coming months of the year.

In addition to Alvopetro, Eneva is also moving to speed up the process and begin natural gas exploration and said it found evidence of natural gas in the onshore well 3-ENV-32D-MA, an area that is located within the PN-T block -102A, whose first exploratory period will end in November 2026. Now, it needs to wait for all the ANP bids to be able to continue the process of studies, tests and, finally, exploration of natural gas.

The companies' studies and the discovery of possible new natural gas reserves in Brazil could contribute to an even greater expansion of the market for this product in the country, with new perspectives for the exploration and commercialization of the fuel in the national and international markets over the next few years. .
