The use of state-of-the-art equipment in the naval industry not only guarantees more safety in operations, but also reduces the analysis time required for approval of projects in the segment, Timken's main point in the production of its equipment.

In addition, the company works with a total of nine brands of parts and components for 16 different heavy-duty vessel systems. In Brazil, its official distributor is Abecom, headquartered in the state of São Paulo, for almost 60 years, offering the national naval industry the cutting-edge solutions of the North American company.

And, in addition to bearings for more agility in projects, Timken also develops the PT Tech line of clutches, which also make this approval faster and safer.

Thus, Jason Rebucci, president of PT Tech and Torsion Control Products, two Timken brands that operate in the marine sector, commented on how this equipment can contribute to projects in the marine industry and said: “Clutches need couplings on the input side, and on the output side they may need chains, belts, gearboxes and bearings. We are experts in all these areas and use our engineering and manufacturing expertise to make the vision of marine designers a reality. Thus, we contribute to the reduction of project approvals with maritime bodies in weeks or even months”.

In addition to bearings and gears produced by Timken for the marine industry, the company also develops propulsion systems with rotating propellers that increase the maneuverability of vessels without the need for a rudder.

Thus, in addition to contributing to greater operational efficiency in the domestic shipbuilding industry, this type of solution guarantees more safety in fishing activities, an area greatly benefited by the presence of Abecom in Brazil.

Timken's solutions that benefit fisheries in the country also include bearings produced by the company, which protect against corrosion and increase the reliability of seafood processing.

Thus, the CEO of Abecom, Rogério Ezequiel Rodrigues, highlighted the importance of Timken's solutions for the Brazilian shipbuilding industry and recalled that the company serves more than 200 industrial groups, which represent more than 1 manufacturing plants in the country.
