The 2023 United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP28) will begin this Thursday (30) with the main focus on discussing measures to promote sustainability and combat the effects of climate change. The event will bring together world leaders, experts and activists in search of effective solutions to protect the planet and its future generations.

The 2023 United Nations Climate Change Summit (COP28) will have as its main focus the sustainability process, with an emphasis on reducing the use of non-renewable energy sourcesSuch as oil and the gas. The United Arab Emirates, as hosts of the event, are major producers of these fuels and, therefore, could be essential in the discussion on the climate crisis current, related to burning fossil fuels. The expectation is that participating countries will reach a global agreement to gradually reduce the use of this type of energy.

However, information emerged that the UAE planned to discuss trade agreements related to fossil fuels with at least 15 countries, including Brazil. Leaked documents indicated negotiations on LNG opportunities in Mozambique, Canada and Australia, as well as support for the development of fossil fuel resources in Colombia. The team responsible for COP28 did not deny these plans to negotiate trade agreements during the event.
