General Motors electric car sells for R$ 16 and becomes the cheapest electric vehicle in the world in the automotive industry
The Wuling NanoEV is the reincarnation of the 200 Wuling Baojun E2019 Disclosure

General Motors (GM) launched an electric car that costs only R$ 16 thousand. The vehicle is focused on urban environments and is currently the cheapest in the automotive industry.

The Wuling NanoEV is currently the top choice for what you would expect from a really popular electric car in the automotive industry. The attraction of this vehicle is not its configuration itself, but its great price, which is around US$ 3,1 thousand, which in direct conversion corresponds to R$ 16 thousand. Wuling is a brand from China that was born from the partnership between General Motors (GM) and Saic.

The electric subcompact is an update of the Wuling Baojun E200, a model launched in 2019 without much success. However, in this version, the electric car did not arrive with a better design, but with a much more affordable price in the automotive industry, something around a third of the price before.

However, as not everything is flowers, to obtain an even more attractive price, the company's vehicle General Motors (GM) lost its engine of 39 horsepower and 11 kgfm of torque and started using a propeller with 33 horsepower and 8,5 kgfm. It might not seem like much, but it's a big loss for an electric car that weighs around 860 kilos.

In addition, its 28 kWh battery yields a great autonomy of 305 kilometers, more than enough to circulate in an urban environment. The look of the General Motors (GM) electric car is very charismatic, to the point of having won a special series inspired by Disney's Zootopia animated film. One of the aims of the partnership between GM and Saic is precisely to develop a model that is desired by younger drivers in China's automotive industry.

Dimensions of GM's subcompact electric car

The dimensions of the Wuling NanoEV are 2,50 m long, 1,52 m wide, 1,61 m high and 1,60 m wheelbase.

Although this last data seems little, the electric car only has front seats. Another fact is the trunk lid that only opens downwards, in the same way as a pickup truck door.

The interior is clean, with a focus on the digital instrument cluster. The multimedia system screen is not visible. Despite this, the electric car offers airbag (only for the driver), stability control, Isofix system, in the passenger seat, ramp start assistant, rear parking sensor and electric windows.

General Motors Joint Venture launches successful vehicle

Besides this electric car, the joint venture has also launched other vehicles, the most famous in the automotive industry being the small Wuling Hongguang Mini EV, which surpassed sales of the Tesla Model 3, which was considered the best seller in this category in the country.

The vehicle costs about 28.800 yuan, equivalent to about R$ 23.700 and already has more than 120 units sold in the second half, when it was launched there. For a cheap car, the small vehicle measures 2,917 m long, 1,621 m high, 1,493 m wide and 1,940 m wheelbase, the model has two variants and weighs just 665 kg.

As it is a car aimed at the urban environment, the model fits in small parking spaces and is free to drive in the large centers of China, which are always crowded with cars. The Mini EV has only 27 hp and 8,6 kgfm.
