13th edition of Eu Esri Brasil honored success stories for excellence in the use of the most important American geographic intelligence system in the world
Held on the 26th, the main geotechnology meeting for users of the ArcGIS platform, o I ESRI 2023, with the realization of the Image Geosystems – official distributor of Esri – American leader in the Geographic Information System (GIS) -, it was time to reward some companies from the public and private sectors due to the advanced use of the tools in their projects. Among those awarded are: the Municipality of São Paulo, the Municipality of João Pessoa, and the Sanitation Company of Paraná (SANEPAR).
In honor of the project “Social Assistance Policy Planning in São Paulo”, the São Paulo City Hall received an award for the significance of the action with the city's homeless population.

Regarding gains in public collection and transparency, João Pessoa City Hall also won an unprecedented award for the project “SIGWEB: from support to the launch of IPTU and ITBI management”. The award presentation highlighted the system modernization project that brought gains in public collection and transparency in the capital of Paraíba.

In the private sector, the Paraná Sanitation Company (SANEPAR) was recognized for the use of applications in sewage treatment plants, enabling better environmental monitoring, innovative analysis and decision making resulting in better service provision to society.
“For us, it is a pleasure to receive this award, which is nothing more than the translation of the positive result of the project implemented at SANEPAR, and we count on the partnership of Imagem for the development of the next projects”, highlights João Ernesto Ferreira Neto, Coordinator of the Paraná Sanitation Company.
Highlighted for the prevention of natural disasters, the Geological Survey of Brazil (CPRM) was awarded for the “Web Viewer for natural disasters” project.
"We are very happy and satisfied with the partnership with Imagem and Esri, and we hope that in the coming years we will have more projects and be able to develop more products for society”, emphasizes Loury Mello, geosciences researcher, from CPRM's Applied Geology Division.
Finally, Rumo Logística – railway logistics operator – received the award for the “Monitoring and Visualization of right-of-way” project, responsible for transporting more than 67 million tons on more than 14 thousand kilometers of railways.
"This award reinforces our commitment to innovation in the rail transport sector. Our project called Rumo Maps is a crucial system for our company, meeting a historical need for consolidation and consultation of information about the track and railway domain”, points out Christopher Christmann, specialist in regulation at Rumo Logística.
We had the moment “Your work at EU ESRI”, in which projects are sent so that the audience can choose the best among them. In total, they were sent 70 projects between 48 Institutions, which received 2.314 votes. Those chosen were:
O Ceará Mining Atlas was developed by Industry Observatory – FIEC system with the aim of bringing more clarity to the understanding of Ceará’s geological formation and its relationship with environmental, economic and logistical issues.
O COP SYSTEM This is the set of ArcGIS System applications built for the collection, management, analysis and visualization of city monitoring information and support in defining the operational stage of Recife, developed by Geoprocessing Center of Recife City Hall.
The expectation is that for the 14th edition of the Eu Esri Brasil Award, more companies will be honored for their use of tools and constant improvement of sustainable development.
