ENEL – More than half a million people benefited

Enel Rio made a total investment of BRL 20 million and will benefit, with the works, around 765 thousand people in both cities and will also promote the generation of several new opportunities. According to Anna Paula Pacheco, president of Enel Rio, the works create greater well-being for the population and also demonstrate the company's commitment to improving quality for its customers.

The concessionaire foresees carrying out 31 expansion works and the modernization of 27 substations located in the concession area. According to the Person Responsible for Infrastructure and Networks at Enel Rio, Mihai-Constantini Peste, the SE will be commanded and operated remotely by the operations center, excluding the need for a physical operator. Around R$ 18 million was also invested in LT Campos/Mombaça.

Approximately 430 MVA will be injected into the energy system, which is enough to supply 490 customers. Two 138 kV line inputs will be built at UHE Funil to be connected to the new LT Funil, completed in Resende. The entries promise to generate more quality in supply and energy for customers in the region.

Networks of the Future

All these works, which promise to generate several jobs, are part of the Redes do Futuro project, which aims to strengthen Enel Rio's concession area with modern distribution equipment.

Enel has more than 6.400 remote-controlled equipment installed on the network and will install another 400 in 2021. The technology makes it possible to quickly and remotely find possible faults in the network that are caused by external factors.

With this equipment, it will be possible to remotely reconnect the service to the affected place in a few minutes, reducing the number of customers without power.

Over the past two years, Enel has invested approximately €1,5 billion in modernizing its network, connecting new customers, automating and combating losses. In 2020 there was the modernization of the SE Icaraí and the expansion of LT Itamarati, not to mention the conclusion of works in Ilha Grande, in Angra dos Reis, which created several jobs, benefited more than 2.500 customers and received investments of R$ 35 million.
