FPSO platform P-71 ordered by Petrobras, will generate many jobs at the Jurong shipbuilding yard, in Espírito Santo

Great news for shipbuilding in Brazil! The shipyard in Espírito Santo was announced by Petrobras as pre-qualified for the construction of FPSO P-71

The week ends with yet another great news for shipbuilding in Brazil! Petrobras informed last Tuesday (27th) that it agreed, after negotiations with its partners in the BM-S-11 Consortium, Shell Brasil Petróleo and Petrogal, the purchase of the P-71 platform, which will allow the anticipation of the first oil in the Itapu field by about a year.

Petrobras' disbursement estimated in the transaction will be US$ 353 million, corresponding to the partners' share in the P-71. When in operation, Petrobras' FPSO P-71 will generate around 300 jobs, according to Findes' Capixaba Petroleum and Gas Forum analyst, Elimar Lorenzon.

The platform vessel has a production capacity of 150 mbpd and will be allocated in the Itapu field. Currently, the platform is in the final stages of construction at the Jurong shipyard, in Espírito Santo, and it will apparently continue to generate many jobs for the state

The good news was given at a meeting between governor Renato Casagrande and Petrobras' executive director of institutional relations, Roberto Furian Ardenghy, last Friday. According to the director of the state-owned company, Espírito Santo will continue to be one of Petrobras' investment priorities.

“We are looking at the oil market in Brazil with an international perspective, but Espírito Santo remains among Petrobras' priorities. The Parque das Baleias project is in the company's investment portfolio. I want to reiterate not only our presence in the State, but also that we can increasingly support oil exploration projects in Espírito Santo”, stated Roberto.

The P-71 was originally scheduled for the Tupi field, which will have a new development plan agreed with the partners in the venture, Shell (25% stake) and Petrogal (10%).
