Arrival 10 days early, the FPSO Pioneiro is already in Brazilian waters and the company has announced its official contracting channel

eagerly awaited, the  FPSO Pioneiro de Libra finally it is already in Brazilian waters. This unit belongs to Odebrecht and Teekay and arrived on the 17th of last week (Wednesday). As the baptismal name of this FPSO says, it will be the pioneer in producing pre-salt in the Libra field.

The Pioneiro was supposed to arrive in the country on May 27, but everything happened so well that he ended up arriving much earlier. Its exploration of the seas began at the Jurong shipyard in Singapore, where its manufacture and assembly took place.

The trip went very smoothly due to several positive factors such as good weather conditions and rigorous planning in the logistical sense. Even in stretches that demand a little more caution, he achieved an approximate gain in navigation speed of 25%, which greatly reduced the time spent on the trip.

The only stop recorded by the FPSO Pioneiro was in Mauritius to change crew, load supplies, equipment and materials. This stop lasted only 1 day and everything went there without problems in the same way.

Starting from its inauguration in December 2016, this unit has been performing a range of commissioned and ocean tests. About a thousand operational procedures were carried out before launching it into the sea, such as inclination tests and propulsion systems. On the way to Brazil, more tests were successfully carried out, with only inspections by Petrobras missing for the full start of activities. The forecast for the first oil extracted will be in July, when the risers will be anchored and connected.
